Ride details

Essential information for your participation in Kalinderu Up & Down.

Start / Finish

See you on Friday, 4th June, at 18:00 at the bottom of the Kalinderu ski slope. A short and intense vertical: you climb 262 m and descend back down the slope. At the end, after the 2 kilometres, we'll be waiting for you at the bottom of the slope to kick off the weekend together.

Equipment

The mountain doesn't negotiate, so the list is strict for your safety. The weather changes rapidly at altitude, and the gear in your backpack protects you in critical situations. Don't cut down on weight where it matters most.

Deadlines

The time limits are for your and the team's protection. They impose a minimum pace to finish safely, under the light. If you are stopped, accept the pragmatic decision - your safety is a priority.

Semiautonomy

All events within the Bușteni Ultra Race are individual competitions held under a semi-self-sufficiency system, within the official time limits.

Semiautonomy means that each participant must be able to travel independent distance between two aid stations. This involves managing one's own nutrition, hydration, equipment and safety, allowing for quick adaptation to unforeseen or difficult situations (sudden weather changes, physical issues, exhaustion or injuries).

The basic rules of semi-autonomy

The mandatory equipment

Every runner must wear and carry the complete mandatory equipment throughout the entire race. This cannot be changed, replaced or abandoned along the route.

Equipment control

Competition officials may check the equipment at any point during the race. Refusal or failure to cooperate with these checks will result in immediate exclusion from the competition.

Resource management

Upon leaving each aid station, it is the participant's responsibility to ensure they have the necessary quantity of water and food to safely reach the next checkpoint.

External assistance prohibited

It is strictly forbidden for unregistered persons to accompany participants along the route. The only exception is in the clearly demarcated and marked support zones near the feed stations.

Mandatory own cup

Disposable cups are not provided at the refreshment points. Each participant must have their own reusable cup or vessel to stay hydrated.

No littering on the trail

Disposing of waste outside designated areas (feed zones) is strictly prohibited and is punishable by a penalty or disqualification.
